Boston Walking Photoshoot | Lauren + Joey

filed in

Did you know that in 90 minutes you can get the most amazing walking photoshoot in Boston, MA? I didn’t know either until Lauren reached out to me to plan a very special session for her and her boyfriend, Joey.

Lauren and Joey are both in the medical field and they are part of the amazing group of heroes in the COVID-19 frontlines. She’s a travel respiratory therapist and he is a nurse. They have been apart due to Lauren’s work commitment in Connecticut, and they really wanted to do something extra special during Joey’s first visit to New England. They set their hearts in a Boston photoshoot and of course, I jumped right in!

I am not a Boston resident, but my passion for travel helped me create a minute-by-minute itinerary for them, and together we made it happen! Our 1.5-mile route proved to be absolutely stunning for this unique “date day”, and by the time we were done, it felt like an actual walking tour. I guess I know enough fun facts about Boston to be able to call it a tour 🙂

If you’ve even been to Boston, you know this city is truly magical. The glass, metal, and brick buildings; the sounds and the smells; the open grounds; and historical landmarks all became inspiring backgrounds to capture their love and connectedness. In just 90 minutes, we hit some of the major tourist spots in the city while we chat about their hectic lives and their plans for the future.

Lauren and Joey are heading on a journey that would make most of us feel very jealous: they’re taking a well-deserved 3-month hiatus from their busy careers, jumping on their self-sustainable traveling van (which Joey built himself!), and heading towards the mountain west region of the US to begin exploring! I was so excited to hear about how they are accomplishing that and I cannot wait to follow their journey! They have an Instagram account where they will be sharing their adventures… make sure to follow them!

The Financial District

We started our Boston Walking Photoshoot at South Station, making our way to Beacon Hill. The financial district is a bustling area but we were lucky to be there for St. Patrick’s day, and many streets were blocked off which meant less traffic!

Boston Common

In the heart of downtown, the Boston Common – the oldest city park in the US, felt alive. This was a warm winter day and the crisp air invited locals to walk, soak up the sun, and even enjoy a picnic. I could hear some of them exclaiming “awwww” when they saw our photoshoot, and honestly, I was “AWWWING” the entire time, too! Lauren and Joey look at each other with such sweetness, that they could make anyone swoon!

Beacon Hill

At Beacon Hill, the red-brick buildings surrounded by iron fences and US flags gave us the most incredible backdrops. Beautiful streets like Chesnut and Spruce prepared the stage for the main treat: Acorn Street. Acorn Street is considered the “most photographed street in the US”, and I think it 100% deserves the title! It’s so beautiful and charming, that residents of the street are paying the price of it. Thousands of tourists visit the narrow cobblestone street every year wanting to capture its magic, and homeowners have tried for years to deter them from taking over their sidewalks! We hurried and managed to quickly capture a few shots that were 100% instagrammable!

Charles River Esplanade

We continued our journey to the Charles River Esplanade, home to the Hatched Memorial Shell (which hosts the famous “Boston Pops Firework Spectaculars“) with breathtaking views of the Charles River and the Longfellow Bridge. Ninety minutes and 100 amazing portraits later, Lauren and Joey got to experience Boston by foot while getting amazing pictures together!

Lauren and Joey… what a treat you guys were! Boston never looked better in my eyes, and watching the way you look at each other made my heart very happy! I’m so glad you got to experience this gorgeous city with me!
