Rhode Island Summer Senior Sessions – A July Recap

filed in

I can’t believe July is gone. Like… how? It makes me sad because that means summer is almost over, but it was such an amazing month full of beautiful people and fun summer senior sessions!

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of photographing senior girls… they feed my soul! I loooove making girls feeling like models, making them look and feel like the queens they are, and then hearing from them that they love their images is just an incredible feeling. None of these girls had experienced a professional photo shoot before, and knowing that they were comfortable, confident, and felt amazing it’s the best reward I can get.

This July I did so many fun things, starting by taking a group from my Spokesmodel Team to Boston for a walking photo shoot, to the opportunity of doing sessions for girls from RI and MA.

Here are some of my favorites from these sessions!

Bridget – Downtown Jamestown

This beautiful girl was such a blast! We decided to do her session in Jamestown because she knew she wanted a combination of downtown feeling and also some beach shoots. This day the weather was perfect – glowy light, subtle breeze, and along with Bridget’s amazing and outgoing personality, we were able to capture many beautiful portraits of her.

Bridget is an experienced horse rider and lover of rural life. A native of Greene, RI; she loves nature and its peacefulness. She’s a senior at Coventry High School and she plans to attend URI in the fall. Bridget’s favorite quote is “Every song ends, is that any reason not to enjoy the music?” – so insightful!

Savannah – Goddard State Park

I’ve known Savannah since she was in middle school with my daughter. I’ve watched her grown into this beautiful, confident, and simply stunning young woman, and doing her senior session was just a dream. Savannah is also a senior at Coventry High School and has been on the competitive cheer team for the past three years. She’s an animal lover (she has owned seahorses… how cool is that?) and she plans to attend URI in the fall for oceanography. Savannah knew she wanted to incorporate the ocean in her summer senior session and we settled for Goddard State Park which, to be honest, never disappoints! In 60 minutes we were able to get so many different backgrounds because this park truly has it all!

Alyssa – Misquamicut State Beach

Alyssa is a beautiful high school senior from Bishop Stang in MA. She’s a cheerleader and a lacrosse player. I was thrilled when she said she wanted a beach session at Misquamicut State Beach because that’s my happy place! I am blessed to live only 20 min from this gorgeous beach, and I was dying to shoot a summer senior session there. We planned a morning session (that’s the best time for beach photos on the east coast because of sun placement) and we had the beach to ourselves. I had such a fun time with Alyssa and her mom Nancy, who kept gushing seeing her baby girl posing for the camera. I mean… look at those dimples!!! Alyssa will be applying for a few colleges in South Carolina but has her heart set on Clemson.

Cailin – Arcadia Management Area

Cailin is a varsity volleyball player at Toll Gate High School. She was the sweetest! She grew up in the Richmond area so when we were planning her summer senior session and I mentioned the Arcadia area, she gave me a big YES! I live in this area so I am familiar with its natural beauty. Cailin loves the water, fishing, and anything summer; so we picked one of my favorite spots – The Browning Mill Pond.

Cailin admitted that she always felt awkward when taking photos but I reassured her that I would guide her through the entire process. By looking at her beautiful portraits you would totally think she’s a pro! We had so much fun at her session and even when I tried doing some more “serious” shots, we just couldn’t stop laughing! Cailin will be heading to URI in the fall and she hopes to become a nurse.
