Colt State Park Engagement Session – Ashley & Anthony

filed in

I met Anthony a few years ago when we worked together at the same nonprofit. I met Ashley last August in the midst of a global pandemic. Her half-covered face during mask season couldn’t show her smile, but her eyes said everything I needed to know: she’s going to marry her best friend, and despite the uncertainty of these times, their wedding date had been set, plans were going forward and I was given the honor to capture it.

Ashley and Anthony’s love story is beautiful! I always love to know more details about my couples so we emailed back and forth a few times. We discussed locations, dates, times. I knew I loved them already but once we were in person, the love, admiration and awe they have for each other was evident! They have found so many ways to shape their relationship to be unique and to keep their fire burning. They are the type of couple that people call “relationship goals”. Listen to this… every year they hike Mount Washington and swim in Lake Winnipesaukee! Like… really guys? Can you just binge watch shows on Friday nights like the rest of us? 😀 Just kidding :p What an amazing tradition! As an outdoorsy person myself, I think I want join you someday! Maybe a 1st anniversary photoshoot at the top of the mountain? 😀

When you get to work with joyful brides you know you’re in for a sweet ride, and our trial run – their engagement session, felt like cruising on a beachside highway. I’ve lived in Rhode Island for almost 20 years now, and this little state never ceases to amaze me with its beauty. I’ve done the East Bay bike path that ends at Colt State Park for many years, and I never realized how gorgeous this place could be for an engagement session – this was their idea! That day the light was perfect. The breeze was perfect. They were perfect. They were present, involved, and absolutely excited to have photos that freeze the time before their big day.

I need all grooms to take notes: by the end of the session, Anthony could anticipate my cues and he was actually directing Ashley on what to do before I could say anything. This brought us a lot of laughs! He was so good with the posing flow that I even asked him if he wanted to work with me in the future 😀 He’s so ready for wedding day!

Ashley and Anthony, when I asked you how wanted to feel when you saw your photos in 20 years from now, the word you used was “nostalgic”. Here you are. I hope I did that for you. I hope when you see these photos on your 20th anniversary you get transported back to the time when nothing else matters, that you remember exactly how you feel right now, and feel not only nostalgia, but the joy of a life well lived. I cannot wait to be there for you next year when you see your bride walking down the aisle, and your groom ready to say “I do”.

I have never read anything so beautiful in my whole life. You captured their story like a fairy tale, I am amazed at your insight, I may be biased being the mother of Anthony , and his beautiful fiancee Ashley, I couldn’t have written their story any better.
    Amazing job Gloria!
