Some love stories come full circle in the most beautiful way, and Tony’s surprise proposal to Jenna is one of them.

Tony, who I first met back in 2021 for his senior portraits, reached out to me with the sweetest request: to help him plan the perfect proposal for his girlfriend of almost two years, Jenna. From the very beginning, I knew this was going to be special. Tony was not just planning to pop the question. He wanted the entire day to feel like a reflection of their love story.

He chose the Newport waterfront, right in front of the Hammet Hotel, which is the very place where their relationship began. The week before, I scouted the exact spot so we could capture every moment flawlessly. Tony was a bundle of nerves in the best way, but his vision was clear. He wanted the backdrop of the water, the magic of Newport, and Jenna’s unfiltered reaction when he got down on one knee.

In front of a crowd of strangers strolling the waterfront and dining at Giusto, Tony dropped to one knee. The moment Jenna said “yes,” cheers erupted from all around them. Strangers clapped, smiled, and celebrated this sweet milestone. The staff at Giusto even brought out complimentary champagne so the newly engaged couple could toast to their love. It was such a thoughtful touch, and of course, I happily incorporated it into their session.

From there, we took off for their official engagement photoshoot across the waterfront. It was so beautiful to see how smitten Tony is with his gorgeous bride-to-be. The way he looks at Jenna and the way he talks to her truly felt like something out of a Hallmark movie. Watching their love unfold in front of my camera was such a gift. We wandered through the charm of Queen Anne Square, the lively energy of Bowen’s Wharf, and those dreamy little side streets that always remind me of Charleston. Newport gave us its very best that evening, and the photos turned out to be everything I had hoped for and more.

And just when Jenna thought the day could not get any better, Tony had one last surprise. At Diego’s Cantina, their closest friends and family were waiting to celebrate the happy couple. Jenna walked into the biggest surprise party, and the joy on her face was unforgettable.

From start to finish, Tony poured his heart into every detail. It was one of those days where you could feel the love, not only between Tony and Jenna, but surrounding them in the laughter and happy tears of everyone celebrating.
