I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Emma and John’s engagement session last fall in the heart of Downtown Newport. The weather? Chef’s kiss. The fall colors? Straight out of a postcard. Mother Nature really showed off for these two, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect backdrop for their story.

High School Sweethearts (With a Twist)

Emma and John’s love story is one of those serendipitous “we were always meant to be” kind of tales. They met back in high school but didn’t reconnect until a few years after graduation. One date was all it took — the rest, as they say, is history. What truly shaped their bond, though, was navigating the challenge of nursing school together. Emma shared how having John’s constant support made those tough times so much easier — a true testament to their loving and funny relationship.

A Session Full of Laughs, Flirtation & Just the Right Amount of PDA

When I asked Emma and John what vibe they wanted for their Downtown Newport Fall Engagement session photos, their answer was clear: fun, laughing, and flirty. And they delivered. With the help of the golden light, they embraced every moment with joy. They made it into a relaxed, authentic session — like a fun date with a third wheel (me!) tagging along with a camera. Their easygoing energy made photographing them such a breeze.

Counting Down to November 7, 2025

Next up: their wedding at Crystal Lake in Rhode Island. I already know it’s going to be an incredible celebration filled with love, laughter, and — knowing these two — lots of fun moments to capture. I can’t wait to be there with them.
